Day 8 - February 6, 2010 - Attacking the Markets

Shortly after waking up, Khem and I went to buy some pork. We then went to the nearby internet phone shop, I bought a Pepsi and a phone recharge card while Khem talked. We headed back home to prepare the meat. I read a bit more and then ate pork curry for lunch.

After lunch we went to the shops and street markets to pick up some gifts for Khem's special event tomorrow. In Nepalese culture, if the teeth of the nephew come in before they are 8 months old then they can't see the uncle until they have done this ceremony. Khem has been in Hong Kong for a while and wasn't able to do it until now. He picked up a brass chalice and a sari for his wife and sister, then we went back to his house.

On the way back, I went to an ATM and took out money for half of the trip. Then we went to the store for groceries. I picked up some chocolate and 3 types of Nepalese coffee. We took a taxi back home and now it is time for Khem's family gathering.
